Nearly seven years after acquiring thousands of acres in the Rio Grande Valley, a Laredo-based company is moving forward with a 175-acre Sharyland Business Park in Mission.
Killam Development acquired 3,400 acres from Hunt Valley Development in 2019. Both South Texas companies have deep roots in the oil and gas industry.
The site is less than a mile from the Anzalduas International Bridge, which is expected to accommodate commercial truck traffic by mid-2026.
About $8 million in infrastructure improvements at the industrial park was offset by a $3 million grant from the Economic Development Administration, which paid for utilities, water, roads, and flood-control measures. The project is expected to support 300 jobs.
