Sam’s Club is moving forward with a $7.7 million remodel of its McAllen store, marking a significant reinvestment in one of the Rio Grande Valley’s busiest retail corridors.

State records from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation show the project is scheduled to begin May 31 at 1400 E. Jackson Ave., with completion expected by Oct. 15.

The remodel includes interior and exterior demolition and upgrades across roughly 55,000 square feet of the existing facility.

Plans call for new vestibule doors and a redesigned entry and exit configuration, along with structural changes including a relocated exit truss. The filing also outlines new and remodeled office spaces, including vision doctor offices, a manager’s office, and training areas.

Retail updates include a remodeled tire display area and other improvements aimed at modernizing store layout and customer flow.

The project is privately funded on private land, with funding provided by the tenant, according to the filing.

Sam’s Real Estate Business Trust, based in Bentonville, Arkansas, is listed as the property owner. The project design is being handled by pb2 architecture + engineering, also based in Arkansas.

The remodel reflects a broader trend of retailers reinvesting in existing locations as the Rio Grande Valley continues to grow and competition for customers intensifies.
