South Texas College is planning a $4.7 million renovation of its cosmetology training facility and security department space in McAllen, a project that could bring significant improvements to buildings used for instruction and campus operations.
The project involves 15,000 square feet at STC’s Pecan Plaza East, located at 2511 and 2517 Pecan Blvd., according to a construction filing registered Thursday with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
The largest portion involves renovations to a 10,000-square-foot cosmetology building, which accounts for two-thirds of the project’s total space. The remaining 5,000 square feet is designated for the college’s security department.
Construction is scheduled to begin Jan. 1, 2027, and be completed by Jan. 31, 2028.
