Rio Grande Valley Business Journal launches mobile app for iPhone and Android users
The app delivers real-time business coverage, data insights, and regional reporting across the Rio Grande Valley and its binational economy in a faster, more accessible format.

The Rio Grande Valley Business Journal was created to provide residents across South Texas with reporting focused on the economy, businesses, and the people driving growth.

The Rio Grande Valley and its sister cities of Reynosa and Matamoros have a combined population of more than 3 million, underscoring demand for coverage of the region’s binational economy.

That demand prompted the creation of the Rio Grande Valley Business Journal. The publication hired journalists with deep experience on the border — reporters who understand the business ties between the U.S. and Mexico and the dynamics shaping the region.

The newsroom also includes a dedicated business reporter based in Mexico, covering developments south of the Rio Grande with direct implications for the U.S. side of the economy.

The publication was built as a digital-first platform, reflecting how audiences now access news on mobile and online devices.

Following the launch of its website eight months ago, the publication began developing mobile applications for iPhone and Android devices. The goal was to create a streamlined, easy-to-use experience for readers.

Subscribers previously accessed a beta version of the app to stay connected away from desktop platforms. As the publication enters its ninth month, it has officially launched its updated mobile apps, designed specifically for iPhone and Android users.

Subscribers and readers can now access the full range of stories, data, and analysis directly from their mobile devices.

The apps are available for download through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Existing users do not need to uninstall the beta version, as it will update automatically.

The app provides one-tap access to the daily top story, as well as a data center featuring information on bank deposits, labor trends, sales tax allocations, border crossings, and airport enplanements across the Rio Grande Valley.

Stories are organized by category, including real estate, energy, healthcare, SpaceX, education, agriculture, tourism, and broader economic trends.
