EDINBURG — Rio Bank is making a $3.5 million investment in Edinburg with plans to build a new branch along the I-69C frontage road.
State filings show the project, called Rio Bank East Edinburg, will be located at 2000 S. I-69C, near the intersection with E. Iowa Road. The branch will feature three drive-thru lanes and additional shell space, according to records with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
Construction is expected to begin this fall and run through September 2026.
The McAllen-based lender, founded in 1985, operates more than a dozen branches across the Rio Grande Valley and Texas, including locations in McAllen, Mission, Harlingen, Brownsville, and Corpus Christi. Rio Bank already maintains an Edinburg location at 621 W. University Drive.
In its April newsletter, Rio Bank said it is “working towards opening additional branches in Weslaco and Edinburg,” underscoring its strategy to grow in fast-developing corridors of Hidalgo County.
Led by President and CEO Ford Sasser III, the community bank offers services ranging from small-business lending to personal banking and wealth management.
