McDonald’s plans new McAllen restaurant 

McDonald’s is planning to expand its footprint in McAllen with a new restaurant at the intersection of Jackson Road and El Rancho Road.

According to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the fast-food chain has registered a $750,000 construction project for a new 4,146-square-foot restaurant.

Construction is scheduled to begin Jan. 18, 2027, with completion anticipated by June 2, 2027.

The project calls for the construction of a new standalone McDonald’s restaurant on privately owned property. The filing lists McDonald’s USA as the owner. No tenant has been assigned, indicating the restaurant is expected to be company-operated or assigned at a later date.

The restaurant will be built at the intersection of Jackson Road and El Rancho Road.

The project was designed by Castles Design Group, a Houston-based architecture firm that has completed restaurant projects for national brands across Texas.

McDonald’s continues to invest in the Rio Grande Valley, where the company operates dozens of restaurants serving communities across Hidalgo, Cameron, Starr and Willacy counties. It recently filed plans to build a new location in Palmview. 

As of publication, McDonald’s had not released additional details about the new location, including whether it will feature the chain’s latest restaurant design or include dual drive-thru lanes and other modern ordering features.
