The Mission clinic would be HCA’s next urgent care location in Hidalgo County
CareNow Urgent Care has registered plans with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation to convert a retail suite at Sharyland Towne Crossing in Mission into an urgent care clinic, at an estimated cost of $6.5 million.
The project covers 2,250 square feet at 2401 E. Expressway 83, Suite 400. Work is scheduled to start Oct. 30 and finish April 30, 2027. The filing lists the job as a renovation and alteration of an existing retail suite, privately funded by the tenant on private land.
The cost figure as filed is a number worth a second look. At $6.5 million for 2,250 square feet, the filing works out to roughly $2,889 per square foot, close to ten times what a medical fit-out in a retail shell typically runs. Either the estimate covers more than the suite itself, or one of the two figures is off. Filings of this kind are registered for accessibility review, not verified for cost, and developers routinely revise the numbers, which is an indication these figures are likely preliminary.
