Señor Barbas, a downtown Weslaco bar, is preparing to close after owner Aaron Garcia announced that declining business and difficulty finding reliable employees have made it increasingly challenging to keep the establishment operating.

In a video announcement recorded at the bar in late October, Garcia said he expects to wind down operations during November, although he did not provide a definitive closing date.

The decision follows months of consideration and discussions with his wife about whether to continue operating the business.

“It’s just not in the cards, right?” Garcia said.
