The developer behind a proposed data center project tied to the Harlingen area has extended its hold on land in Cameron County, according to newly filed property records.
An amended and restated memorandum of real estate purchase option shows that RGV Property Group, LLC — an entity linked to Eneus Energy — retains the right to acquire the property through July 3, 2027. The agreement stems from an original option signed in July 2025 and has since been updated through additional amendments.
The filing does not indicate that a sale has been completed or that construction is imminent. Instead, it preserves the developer’s ability to move forward if conditions align.
The land position is tied to a broader data center proposal associated with the Harlingen area, where city leaders have been actively reviewing the potential impacts of large-scale developments.

Local officials in Harlingen have taken a cautious approach, researching how data centers operate and what infrastructure they require. That has included discussions around electrical capacity, the need for additional substations, and whether projects would rely on water-intensive cooling systems.
