Matamoros auto supplier doubles workforce with $2.7M expansion as Tamaulipas launches new automotive cluster

A Matamoros auto supplier announced a $2.7 million expansion earlier this week that is expected to add 800 new jobs, as Tamaulipas officials simultaneously announced the launch of a new statewide automotive cluster.

“The support we’ve seen in Matamoros has allowed us to bring in new production lines and retain projects that otherwise would have gone to another region,” Carlos González, a representative of Suprajit Mexico, said.

Suprajit Mexico is part of Suprajit Group, an India-based automotive supplier that produces components for major automakers worldwide.

The company manufactures control cables used in passenger vehicles and tractor-trailers that allow drivers and passengers to open doors, release hoods, adjust seats, and operate other basic mechanical functions.
