The Rio Grande Valley Business Journal has partnered with KEDT, a Corpus Christi public radio station affiliated with NPR and PBS, to bring reporting on business, economic development, and cross-border issues in the Rio Grande Valley to a wider audience across the state.
The partnership centers on a recurring news segment on KEDT in which the Journal’s editors and reporters provide context and analysis on how local developments in the Valley connect to broader economic and policy trends in Texas, Mexico, and the U.S.
RGV Business Journal Publisher Ramiro Garza Jr. said the collaboration reflects the Valley’s growing role in the state and national economy and the importance of explaining that impact beyond the region.

“The Rio Grande Valley is no longer a peripheral market — it’s a strategic region with real economic influence on Texas and the U.S.,” Garza said. “Partnering with an NPR-affiliated public radio outlet allows us to take the Valley’s story to a broader audience and explain how closely connected this region is to trade, energy, infrastructure, and national economic trends.”
Garza said public radio provides a trusted platform for explaining complex issues that often originate locally but carry implications well beyond South Texas.
“KEDT and the RGV Business Journal are both committed to expanding news coverage for South Texans,” said Don Dunlap, KEDT’s general manager. “Both organizations saw an opportunity for a news reporting partnership that would benefit our combined audiences in South Texas.”
