Two Valley restaurants named among world’s best burger spots

Two Rio Grande Valley restaurants have been named among the World’s 101 Best Burger Places for 2026, placing local establishments alongside burger destinations in cities such as London, New York, Sydney, Tokyo and Paris.

Mission-based SSTASH Burger ranked No. 41 on the annual list, while Brownsville’s Le Rêve Restaurant came in at No. 77, according to rankings published by World’s 101 Best Burger Places.

The recognition also puts the Rio Grande Valley at the center of Texas’ representation on the list.

A review of the 2026 rankings found four Texas restaurants among the 101 selections worldwide: Eat Jabs and Dai Due in Austin, SSTASH Burger in Mission and Le Rêve Restaurant in Brownsville. That means Valley restaurants accounted for half of the Texas establishments included this year.

The list’s top rankings were dominated by international destinations, with London’s Bleecker taking the No. 1 spot, followed by Black Bear in London and Café Margaret in Sydney.

For the Valley, the recognition highlights a growing reputation for culinary offerings beyond the region’s traditional strengths in Mexican cuisine, seafood and border-inspired fare.

The rankings are published annually by World’s 101 Best Burger Places, which describes itself as a global burger ranking platform. However, publicly available information about its methodology is limited.

For SSTASH Burger and Le Rêve Restaurant, inclusion on the list provides another point of visibility for businesses operating in a region that is not traditionally associated with global restaurant rankings.
