A nearly $40 million apartment complex is planned in Brownsville, according to a new state construction filing.
Sonrisa Village Apartments is proposed for 5000 Bowie Road, with an estimated construction cost of $39.05 million, according to a project filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
The privately funded project calls for construction of a 376,174-square-foot apartment complex on private property.
Construction is expected to begin Dec. 11 and be completed by July 17, 2028, according to the filing.
The project is listed as registered with the state, an early step in the development process. The filing does not specify how many apartment units are planned, the size of the property or what amenities would be included.
Brownsville resident Luis Torres is identified as the project owner in the filing.
Fielder & Associates Inc., a Lexington, Kentucky-based design firm, is listed as the project’s designer.
At more than 376,000 square feet and an estimated $39 million investment, Sonrisa Village represents another sizable residential development planned for Brownsville as new housing continues to come online across the city.
