MATAMOROS, Tamaulipas — An automotive parts manufacturer that nearly left Matamoros two years ago is now planning to expand its operations, potentially creating up to 200 jobs.
India-based Suprajit plans to add nine production lines, new industrial equipment and a loading and unloading area to its Matamoros plant, according to Enrique Salinas Garza, the city’s secretary of economic development.
The expansion is tied to contracts with General Motors and Nissan and is expected to generate between 150 and 200 jobs.
The announcement marks a turnaround for the manufacturer, which considered relocating its Matamoros operations to Ciudad Juárez in 2024, Salinas said.
