Two new hotel projects are moving forward near the Four Corners area along Boca Chica Boulevard, adding more than $27 million in investment as Brownsville continues to see growth in tourism and business travel.

The developments include a Courtyard by Marriott and a Hyatt Place, both four-story hotels that together will add 245 rooms to the city’s expanding inventory, according to a news release from the city.

A Courtyard by Marriott will feature 125 rooms with an estimated $14 million investment, while the Hyatt Place will include 120 rooms with an estimated $13.5 million investment.

City officials said both projects recently reached a key milestone.

“They just got the building permit on March 26,” Daniel Leal, director of Brownsville’s Planning and Redevelopment Department, said in the news release. “Typically, it takes anywhere between 12 and 18 months to complete this type of structure, so I would say probably by 2027 they will both be open to the public.”

Momentum builds at Four Corners

The projects are part of continued development activity in the Four Corners area, which has become a focal point for new commercial growth in the city.

Brownsville Mayor John Cowen Jr. pointed to rising demand as a driver behind the projects.

“There is exciting momentum at Four Corners with two new hotels on the way as tourism and business travel continue to grow in Brownsville,” Cowen said in a social media post.

Commissioner Linda C. Macias also highlighted the role of continued investment in the area.

“We are excited to see these plans move forward as business travel and tourism continue to rise,” Macias said in a separate post.

The additional rooms are expected to support increased visitation tied to both tourism and business activity, as Brownsville continues to position itself as a growing destination in the Rio Grande Valley.
