Rio Bank is planning a $5.3 million new bank and commercial office building in McAllen, according to a new state filing.

The McAllen-based bank plans to construct a 19,000-square-foot building at 720 E. Jackson Ave., according to a project filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

The privately funded project will include commercial office space, retail banking services and a drive-thru, along with improvements to the property.

Construction is scheduled to begin Sept. 21 and be completed May 21, 2027, according to the filing.

The project, registered with the state as Rio Bank Jackson, lists Rio Bank as the property owner. BRW Architects, a Dallas-based architecture firm, is listed as the project’s design firm.
