Yael Alarcon Mata, who hails from Mission, graduated from the University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley in May 2026.
Now the 22-year-old is on the hunt for his first job in the technology industry, armed with a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering focused on software and experience in C++, a standard but notoriously difficult programming language. So far, his work experience includes the college library.
On Thursday morning, he stood in line for a chance to speak with recruiters for Doctors Hospital at Renaissance at the Edinburg Conference Center at Renaissance about available careers in the healthcare sector — a major local employer in the healthcare industry — that dominates the job market in the Valley.
