Zaxby’s is expanding its Rio Grande Valley footprint with a new $1.1 million restaurant planned in Harlingen.
The chicken chain plans to build a 1,948-square-foot restaurant at 4707 S. Expressway 77/83, according to a project filing registered Sunday with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
The privately funded project calls for new construction of the restaurant and a concrete parking lot. Construction is listed as beginning Aug. 28 and is expected to be completed Jan. 29, 2027, according to the filing.
The Harlingen restaurant would expand Zaxby’s presence in the Valley after the chain opened its first location in the region last year at 4012 N. 29th St. in McAllen. Zaxby’s currently lists the McAllen restaurant among its Texas locations.
