Golf Galaxy, the specialty golf retailer owned by Dick’s Sporting Goods, appears to be making its Rio Grande Valley debut with plans to renovate a retail space at McAllen’s Las Tiendas shopping center.

According to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, a $946,618 renovation project has been registered for Golf Galaxy at 732 E. Expressway 83. Construction is scheduled to begin Oct. 16 and be completed by March 5, 2027.

Golf Galaxy sells golf clubs, apparel, footwear, accessories and training equipment, while also offering services such as custom club fittings, club repair and indoor golf simulator experiences at stores across the country.

The project calls for the tenant fit-out of an existing 17,918-square-foot retail space in the Ridge Crossing Shopping Center, part of the Las Tiendas retail development. Plans include interior renovations along with exterior sign replacement and painting.

The project is privately funded by the tenant, according to the filing.

The tenant listed on the filing is Mark Scanlon of Dick’s Sporting Goods, while the property owner is Weingarten Las Tiendas JV. The renovation was designed by Onyx Creative, a Maine-based architecture and design firm specializing in retail spaces.

The addition of Golf Galaxy further expands McAllen’s retail offerings along the Expressway 83 corridor, which continues to attract national retailers serving customers from South Texas and northern Mexico.

As of publication, neither Dick’s Sporting Goods nor Golf Galaxy had announced an opening date or released additional details about the store.
