Dozens of construction projects are underway across the Rio Grande Valley, according to Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation permit records. While most investment continues in retail, gas stations, and quick-serve restaurants, much more is underway, with a map tracking hundreds of projects to explore.
Recent developments include a $13 million investment by San Antonio-based Frost Bank, which is building a financial center in downtown Harlingen.
The company already has a retail location in Harlingen, but this will be a ground-up new construction investment, with construction expected to begin in January 2027 and wrap up by August 2027.
San Antonio-based O’Connell Robertson is handling the design, records show.
