A Brownsville-based space technology startup is seeking $7 million in a seed round to develop and launch a satellite designed to transport water in space.

Space Ocean Corp., founded in Brownsville in 2021, announced this month that it has opened a $7 million investment round to fund the development and launch of its first water-transfer satellite, targeted for 2028.

The company wants to build what it describes as water logistics infrastructure for space, eventually supplying commercial space stations and supporting missions to the Moon, Mars and beyond.

Its technology would allow spacecraft to transfer, store and deliver water in orbit, potentially reducing the need for astronauts to manually handle water supplies.
