The Mission Economic Development Corporation is reopening its Downtown Assistance Program, bringing back grant funding aimed at helping small businesses upgrade properties and invest in downtown Mission.
The program offers grants of up to $25,000 per business for projects including façade improvements, renovations, accessibility upgrades, signage, infrastructure repairs, and facility improvements.
Eligible businesses must be located along Conway Avenue between Expressway 83 and 18th Street, or within one block east or west of the corridor.
Mission EDC officials said the program is intended to support small business sustainability while encouraging continued investment in the city’s historic downtown district.
Eligible projects include masonry repair, painting, exterior lighting, display window improvements, landscaping, awnings, canopies, ADA upgrades, window replacement, historically significant preservation work, and approved murals.
Certain interior improvements, including plumbing and electrical work, may also qualify.
Applicants must be legally registered, remain in good standing with local taxing entities, and provide project plans, timelines, and verified cost estimates.
Businesses that received Mission EDC funding within the past two years are not eligible.
Grant awards will be determined based on project scope, demonstrated need, infrastructure improvements, facility conditions, and broader community impact.
The online application portal opens June 1.
