A November matchmaking session signals the city is recruiting retail and service chains, not just industry
EDINBURG — The Edinburg Economic Development Corp. is bringing franchise brands to town in November to sit down with local investors, a recruitment approach aimed at a category of growth that usually arrives without much public courtship.
The session, called The Franchise Connection: Meet Your Match, runs 8 a.m. to noon Friday, Nov. 13, at the ACE Center, 315 W. McIntyre St. The EDC says the brands attending are actively looking to enter this market and that it is pairing them with qualified local investors. RSVPs are required and seating is limited.
The format is the notable part. Most economic development recruitment in the Valley runs toward manufacturing, logistics and industrial sites. Franchise expansion moves on different terms: it is financed by local operators putting up their own capital, and it lands in retail centers rather than industrial parks. An EDC convening franchisors and investors in one room is effectively trying to speed up deals that would otherwise take months of cold calls.
