A new $14 million cold storage warehouse is planned in South McAllen, adding another major produce-related facility to the city’s industrial area near the U.S.-Mexico border.

The privately funded project calls for construction of a 58,308-square-foot cold storage warehouse at 5501 Honduras Ave., according to a new project filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

Construction is scheduled to begin Sept. 28 and be completed by Aug. 16, 2027.

The project is listed as 7 Palmas Warehouse, and the facility is identified as the 7 Palmas LLC Cold Storage Warehouse. The filing describes the project as a new cold storage warehouse building with ancillary rooms.
