A San Antonio hotel developer expects to build a Hilton Home2Suites hotel in Weslaco, according to Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation documents.

The new Hilton would be built at 2300 Pike Boulevard, east of Milanos Road, on the south side of Expressway 83.

The estimated cost of the 63,202-square-foot hotel would be $3.1 million, according to the planning documents. It was not immediately clear how many hotel rooms would be included in the project. On average, the Hilton brand carries about 100 rooms.

The Home2Suites brand often includes suites with a kitchen, a pool, an outdoor area, a gym, and an indoor market.

Birju Patel is the owner of Krisha Weslaco LLC, a company affiliated with San Antonio-based BH Hospitality Management, which he co-owns with Harsh Patel.

In 2023, Krishna Weslaco acquired the 2-acre lot on Pike Boulevard between the Cinemark theater and the Planet Fitness gym, deed records show.

This isn’t the first time Patel invested in Weslaco.

His company built the 84-room Hampton Inn on Fairfield Boulevard, which opened about six years ago. It sits across the street from a Best Western owned by Creative Hotel Group LLC, a company affiliated with local developer Arun Bhakta at Valley Hospitality.

Patel said previously that he had been studying the Rio Grande Valley for several years before deciding to invest.

The Weslaco Hampton Inn property was sold to Vasudeva & Family Inc. by a company affiliated with Patel in 2021.

Now, BH Hospitality’s website shows a Towneplace Suites by Marriott under development in Harlingen, as well. There were no state construction documents on file for that project.
