President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo launched a three-day tour of Tamaulipas on Friday with the federal Housing for Well-Being program at the center of her first stop in Reynosa, highlighting more than 38 billion pesos ($2.16 billion) in housing investment planned for the state.
Sheinbaum presided over a housing event at the Infonavit Puerta Grande development in Reynosa, where homes were delivered to local families. Her Aug. 14-16 tour also included stops in Matamoros, Villa de Casas, Ciudad Victoria, Tampico y Ciudad Madero.
Tamaulipas has been assigned a goal of 60,000 homes through Infonavit, Mexico’s national housing fund for workers. About 47,000 homes have already been contracted across 36 developments, while another 5,270 are under review in nine projects.
If those projects are approved, the state would have more than 52,000 homes in the pipeline, representing about 87% of its Infonavit target.
