The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley has registered nearly $11 million in construction work at two Edinburg athletics facilities, providing new details about the costs of its ongoing sports infrastructure expansion.
Two filings submitted Tuesday to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation list a combined estimated construction cost of $10.9 million for improvements to the UTRGV Tennis Complex and Robert and Janet Vackar Stadium.
The larger project carries a $9.3 million price tag and includes eight new tennis courts, renovations to an existing 10,200-square-foot building and construction of a 2,100-square-foot restroom facility at 920 N. Sugar Road.
UTRGV announced in September that construction was underway on the tennis complex, which will become the new home of its men’s and women’s tennis programs.
