Huey Magoo’s, a Florida-based fast-casual chain known for its chicken tender-focused menu, is expanding into Texas with a new restaurant planned near Bass Pro Drive in Harlingen.
State filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation show a 2,468-square-foot Huey Magoo’s Chicken Tenders restaurant is scheduled for construction at 114 Bass Pro Drive, with work expected to begin May 1 and be completed by December.
The location sits near major retail anchors and highway access points, placing it within a corridor that has seen steady commercial activity and new development in recent years.
The privately funded project is valued at an estimated $375,000, according to the filing. No tenant operator has been publicly identified.
The brand, founded in 2004, has built its concept around premium chicken tenders made from the tenderloin — marketed as the “filet mignon of chicken” — along with sandwiches, wraps, and salads.
The Harlingen project comes as Huey Magoo’s expands into Texas through franchise agreements and development deals across multiple markets.
The company has identified the Rio Grande Valley as part of that growth, including cities such as McAllen and Brownsville.
