Crunch Fitness appears to be expanding into Harlingen with plans to open a more than 50,000-square-foot fitness center, according to a new state construction filing.
A project registered Monday with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation calls for a $1.2 million interior renovation at 706 Dixieland Road, where an existing commercial building will be converted into a Crunch Fitness.
Construction is scheduled to begin Sept. 1 and be completed by Feb. 1, 2027, according to the filing.
The project will renovate approximately 50,435 square feet of existing space for use as a fitness center.
The property owner is listed as Clearview Harlingen LP, while the tenant is identified as Jay Thomas. JPlus Architects Inc., based in Roseville, California, is serving as the project’s design firm.
Crunch Fitness is one of the nation’s fastest-growing gym brands, offering memberships centered on strength training, cardio equipment, group fitness classes and personal training.
The filing does not identify an anticipated opening date or provide additional details about amenities planned for the new location.
